Canadian Chef and Seafood Importer Found Guilty of Abalone Trafficking

Kai Kin Ng of Richmond, British Columbia, has reportedly been fined $40,000 CAD/$38,962 USD for abalone trafficking. The Vancouver Sun explains that Ng’s fine was the result of an arrest in December 2010. The California Department of Fish and Game used a random checkpoint in Jenner, California, to confiscate abalone from divers who took more than their daily limit. Abalone Poaching Continues on the Northern California Coast

California Department of Fish and Wildlife wardens have arrested two abalone poachers and booked them into Mendocino County Jail. The arrests were the result of “Operation Scoop and Run”, an extensive undercover investigation by the Department of Fish and Game.
